Handy Ltd offers a range of water-based adhesives from Simalfa

The unique nature of office chair production leads to strenuous demands upon the adhesive that is used during the manufacturing process. Contoured seating, back panels and the tensioning requirements of the various glued substrates coupled with the demands of efficient production times have made it very difficult for manufacturers to move away from fast acting but harmful and environmentally unfriendly solvent-based adhesives towards a “green”, sustainable adhesive that is both better for the planet, production staff and the end user.

Thanks to ground-breaking developments in the Simalfa range of water-based adhesives, we at Handy Ltd now have a solution to this issue and we are seeing a boom in sales to this market sector. We are now able to offer an eco-friendly water-borne adhesive range that will even offer adhesion to non-porous plastics (PE, PP, PA, hard PUR). Our adhesives offer extremely high heat resistance and give a soft, flexible bond line. We know that instant tack is critical, but our adhesives also allow for a degree of re-positioning when needed.

The application of water borne adhesives often require an adjustment of process within customers production lines as well as some re-training of the operator. We have become experienced in supporting our customers through this process.

Whilst office screens do not offer quite the same challenges as office seating concerning adhesive application (they are generally flat) we have developed specialist water borne adhesives that avoid any glue “bleed through” or “spotting” on the surface fabric. All our glues can be gravity fed removing any need for pumping.

We encourage office furniture producers everywhere to get in touch with our experienced sales team and join the increasing number of companies that are finally kicking solvents out of their factory.
